"OMEGA CONTROL" Thrustor is sturdy electro-hydraulic device for exerting a smooth controlled upward thrust on any device with rated capacity from the beginning to the end of the full rated stroke. These are provided with clevis-lug mountings, allowing them to be mounted upton ten degrees either way from the vertical. All the rubbing surfaces are immersed in oil, requiring very little maintenance. Basically, the electro-hydraulic Thrusters comprises of a centrifugal pump impeller spinning in oil and developing a pressure-head. Since there is no outlet delivery port as in a pump, the pressure developed is impressed on a piston which is directly coupled to the load lifted. Thus a part of the pressure head is expended in forming a kinetic head required to lift the load. At the end of the lift, either full of partial, i.e. when the Thrustor stalls, it is the full pressure head that is available. Thus the maximum possible thrust would thrust in the stalled position is always higher than the rated thrust. The centrifugal pump-impeller is driven by an electric motor and the pressure developed varies with the speed of the motor. Thus the pressure (thrust) can be varied by varying the motor speed. The practical limitation is that a low motor speed causes reduced oil flow and increased operating time. It is therefore recommended that variable pressure thrust be used in the stalled position of the thrustor, when the maximum possible thrust would be obtained.
