The scanner can be effectively used to protect equipments like HT motors & Transformers and effectively used to monitor process temperature. The microcontroller based scanners provides output in the form of RS 232 or RS 485 MODBUS so as to effectively log the data in DCS. Scanner accepts inputs from multiple temperature sensors located in the field. It indicates the channel number as well as the temperature of that particular channel on display. When temperature of any channel increase beyond set value, an output relay is activated. The output relay can be common for all channels or common for group or can be assigned for individual channel. Advantage of Protocontrol scanner: 1. Continuous monitoring of the equipment temperature. 2. Indication of the equipment temperature. It provides indication of every location where temperature sensor is fitted. 3. Generates an alarm when temperature of any location exceeds set value. This alarm can be used for operation of audible alarm like hooter or indication like Lamp. 4. Provides trip output if temperature still exceeds trip limit. 5. The scan time is settable. 6, Auto / manual facility. If taken on auto, all channels are monitors .If taken on manual: only selected channel is monitored.
