PTFE Sleeve

PTFE tubes with extremely thin walls are referred to as “PTFE sleeves”. The term “PTFE sleeve” is often used in the electrical industry. PTFE sleeves are primarily used for electrical and frequency insulation. PTFE has a dielectric constant of 2.1 and dielectric strength of 18 KV/mm making it one of the best insulating materials. PTFE sleeves are preferred where temperatures are high or environment is corrosive or there is limited space. PTFE insulation will be will be many times less thick than for example PVC insulation. PTFE sleeves are often used on metal or non metal ropes when temperatures are high or they are in contact with corrosive solvents and chemicals. PTFE sleeves are increasingly used in medical device applications as PTFE is FDA approved and is bio compatible with human body. PTFE sleeves are manufactured and supplied in short cut lengths or in continuous coils. PTFE sleeves are available in different colors. PTFE sleeve sizes are generally manufactured as per AWG standards. PTFE had a UL V0 rating which means it does not cause fire, participate in fire or promote fire. Equipment transmitting RF signals at high frequency generally cause interference field around them. PTFE sleeves provide impressive insulation against high frequency RF signal.
