As we know, contractile process of smooth muscle is dependent upon the entry of extra cellular calcium ions into these cells through Ca++ channels. It is more selective for arteries. Thus, Amlodipine is also termed as arterial vasodilator. Because of this mode of action Primodil is effective in the management of mild to moderate hypertension as well as in both stable angina and vasospastic angina angina.
