Brief description of the system.

Controls for label printing machine are generally three / five /seven motor drive system. Three motor drive systems is the bare minimum requirement and are generally supplied on low end machine. The three motor drive system consists of unwind brake with load cell feedback, main press drive controls and rewind motor controls based on load cell feedback system.

Five motor drive systems are used on high speed machines. In addition to the controls provided by three motor drive system, additional infeed and outfeed nip controls are provided. For precise tension controls dancers are provided in the infeed and outfeed zone. These dancers are fitted with special friction free pneumatic cylinders and a linear transducer to sense the actual position of the dancer. All the five motors of the system are synchronised through plc and dedicated drive synchronising software developed by waveform controls. Along with the drive controls, other electrical and electronic controls of the machine like the blower controls, heating controls, pneumatic controls are also taken care of in the panel supplied. Machine specific designs are made to ensure operator convenience. System also consists of remote control panels fitted on the machine at different locations for ease of operation.

Seven motor drive system incorporates additional rewind and unwind drives for machines fitted with turret on both ends. For automatic splicing at running speeds, waveform controls has developed plc based controls which ensure auto splicing and reel changeover at high speeds.
