Furnace curtains are curtains installed before the opening of furnaces. Furnace curtains stop radiation heat losses to some extent and make surrounding environment comfortable enough to work. These curtains are made from Glass, High Silica or Ceramic fabrics. Sometimes, curtains are also insulated by inserting wool between two layers of fabrics. Curtains can also be covered with S.S. Wire netting to take care of abrasion.

Furnace curtains are provided in either a single piece or with slits at regular intervals to ensure smooth flow of material flow of material entering or exiting the furnace. They too are provided with loops or eyelets for easy hanging.
