The Mannich reaction of Cardanol, formaldehyde, and certain amines is called a Phenalkamine. However, due to the long aliphatic side chain of Cardanol, Phenalkamines also have very good pot life, good flexibility, surface tolerance, and excellent water and salt water resistance.
