Technology Description
The technology ECO Pots is a device and method to convert organic waste into compost that will feed and grow plants within the same container. The concept behind the technology is to clean the earth by using organic waste material generated in households and restaurants to feed and grow plants that will in turn provide fruit and vegetables for consumption. This benefits the ecology by removing millions of tons of organic waste from being deposited in landfills. It also translates into less pollution generated by trash trucks hauling waste to the landfills.
It provides food security and reduces the use of chemicals and pesticides. Two outer sections of a pot hold the organic waste and soil. As this decomposes nutrients filter through root holes in separator plates that house the plant in the center section of the pot. Individuals that are environmentally minded will find this a solution to a number of issues in one device. Due to its small footprint it is designed to be used in residential and urban environments where a yard may not be available for composting. Pots can be arranged on a patio, a balcony, the rooftop or even indoors. It is recommended that 20 pots be used in the same area to provide pollination, air cleansing through CO2 removal and O2 creation.
