ABOUT CAPACITOR:

The easiest way to state the mechanism of a capacitor would be to compare it to a battery. Capacitors are electrically charged  and these release stored energy at a rate of sixty times per second in a 60 cycle alternating current system. Most of like a radio, the size depends on the size of the battery. For a strong motor indeed a strong battery is required and vise versa.

Large capacitors require energy consumption to rise. In both the cases,  the life circle of the motor will be reduced for overheated motor windings.

Voltage rating is all the time is equal or more than original capacitor in the case of start or run capacitor. Always you are advised to consult manufacturers to examine the  correct capacitor size for the special application.

Basically, typical Motor-starting capacitors are non-polarized electrolytic types, while running capacitors are traditional paper or plastic film dielectric types.
