Indian sandalwood is globally known as East Indian Sandalwood and in India as chandan or Sandalwood. Sandalwood is also known as Royal tree and this tag was given by Tipu Sultan, it is a precious, valuable and pride forest tree of India. And In Indian culture sandalwood is very commonly used. Its Major usage in perfume, furniture industries, Agarbatti, sandal soap, medicine and Ayurveda products. It is also good for health. Santalum album-L-belongs to intermediate and long term host tree for the best growth family Santalaceae and it is a hemi root parasite tree. There are three tree species which are sold in India and International market in weight i:e Sandalwood, Agarwood and Red Sandor. Before 2001 Sandalwood was supposed to be a government property. But after 2001 Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, MaharashtraA A A A A A A A A A A A A A A AcA A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A ..Government changed policy for sandalwood farming and made liberal laws and it was open for private farming. And due to this changes large number of farmers across India started plantation. Between 2003 and 2015 millions of plantation was cultivated by Indian farmers out of which many farm was found unorganized. Where about problem found like distance between plant, water management, Pruning, Fertilizer usage and many more and because of all this reason growth of tree been effected and result are not satisfactory. Since 2010 Institute of wood and science technology - Bangalore became more active and Chandan Vikas Association (CVA) came into existence and because of this sandalwood farming started in more organized and scientific method in Gujarat after 2015. Chandan vikas association is a registered trust (F 3329/GJ-3643-Vadodara) and runs NGO. Chandan Vikas Association president Mr. Nitin Patel got inspirational message from Parm Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj Head of BAPS organization in 2014 to make this sector more organized and to give farmer proper guidance . After CVA Intervention all activity of sandalwood farming started more smoothly and in scientific manner and this association (CVA) played an important role for development of farmers across India. There was a great contribution of Dr.Ananthapadma Nabha, Dr. T. S. Rotore, and EX.APCCE Dr. Jadish Prasad (IFS) Gujarat. Chandan Vikas Association was formed by panel of farmers and their motto is to make farmers Income 10 times by doing sandalwood farming. Till date 5 seminars were conducted by CVA and thousands of farmers participated and got benefited and several group meetings were also arranged in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana for their proper guidance. Several videos on sandalwood farming were uploaded on YouTube by Mr. Nitin Patel President of CVA and many farmers across India got fruitful information and guidance through this video. This is highest viewing video on You Tube for sandalwood farming across globe, and till date 3 million minutes viewing of this videos been recorded. First time in India Digital 58 pages of PDF Book on sandalwood farming (Hindi, Gujarati) been introduced by Mr. Nitin Patel president of CVA in 2016 which was very beneficial for all sandalwood farmers to get all technical details.
