Clay or terracotta tiles are best for roofing and have been known to be around for centuries. These tiles allow air circulation and thus keep the house cool during summers and warm during the winter months. Also clay tiles are robust and prevent the infestation of bees and other insects. However on the flip side the clay tiles need frequent maintenance and are not leakproof.
