Q. What is the difference between bus ducts and busbars?
Answer
Long busbars that with protective coverings are what make up busways, also known as bus ducts. They make it possible for additional circuits to branch out anywhere along the busway, as opposed to the main supply only being able to branch off in one point. Insulators may be used to support a busbar, or the busbar itself can be encased with insulation. Either an earthed metal cage surrounds them to prevent inadvertent contact, or they are kept at a height that is out of reach for most people.
