PVDF polymer is used to make hollow fibre ultrafiltration membranes which have a diameter of 1.3 millimetres on the outside and 0.7 millimetres on the interior. Because of the mix of PVDF polymer an asymmetric membrane including micropores in the effective filtration area as well as a high porosity substructure the fibres have a high level of strength.
