Q. What is a single pole and double pole switch?
Answer
If a user wants to operate two distinct circuits from one switch a user will need a double-pole switch while a single-pole switch can only operate one. A twin pole switch on the other hand can be wired to two independent circuits. They serve as dual switches in one convenient package. In this case the connections might be spaced out or made all at once. The number of independent circuits that may be toggled on and off by a single switch is called its "Pole." Depending on the "Throw" a user can see how many points of contact there are. Single-throw and double-throw are the two most popular variations.
