A COD (chemical oxygen demand) digester is used to determine the amount of oxygen consumed by water for oxidation of inorganic chemical (like ammonia) and decomposition of organic matter i.e., it is a method used for industrial or residential wastewater, surface water and effluent before they can be discharged to the environment.
