Q. Is wax paper waterproof?

Waxed paper also known as wax paper is paper that has been coated with wax and has a surface that is both non-stick and resistant to water. On the other hand it does not withstand high temperatures thus you must not put it in the oven. NOTE: Baking paper may be substituted for wax paper in most situations where the wax paper would be required. On the other hand the inverse is not true since putting wax paper in the oven may lead to smoke and alter the flavor of the food.
