In many respects the Xenon Energy Saving Discharge Lamps often known as XEDs have several advantages over the most common Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). XED lights are superior in terms of the spectrum contents total running life hours and the amount of power consumed during their operation. They emit fewer glares and maintain their clarity even when the weather is foggy. In general the IIHS found that LEDs performed better than halogen headlights in its testing; nevertheless the organization did give higher ratings to some halogen headlights than to other LEDs. Some halogen headlights have been ranked as satisfactory which is the second highest possible rating while some LED headlights have been ranked as mediocre or even terrible.
