Q. Is Appalam and papad same?
Answer
Both are comparable in that they are prepared with seasoned lentil flour which is either fried in oil or roasted over an open flame depending on which method is used. However the papad is neither the same thing as an appalam nor is it a pappadum. Pappadams from the south of India typically have a diameter of little more than four inches. Appalams in Tamil Nadu won't become as popular as our pappadams. On the other hand they're taller and leaner. The North Indian cities of Bikaner Varanasi and Amritsar are just as well-known for their delectable papads as is Kerala's Guruvayoor.
