The US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention recommends wearing a N95 mask for ensuring effective safety against all the variants of Coronovirus including the newly emerged omicron variant. However a 3-ply surgical face mask is also good alternative to N95 mask because it can prevent contracting of infection from infected droplets from another infected person. Therefore a 3-ply face mask is also effective against omicron variant of the coronavirus.
