Apply using a cotton swab dipped in the solvent and a light even brushing motion. Because it dissolves plastic nail polish remover will leave a flat smooth surface. Scrubbing too vigorously though may cause the plastic to tear. To clean patent leather shoes use a dish towel dipped in nail polish remover to wipe them down buff out any scuffs and then remove any remaining varnish with another cloth. Nail polish remover may be used to get rid of stains left by permanent markers; simply soak a cotton ball or pad in the remover and wipe the stains gently in circular motions to get rid of the ink. Use a clean cloth to remove any remaining debris.
