Q. How to identify polyester thread?
Answer
Polyester threads are easy to identify from a cotton thread. Generally, the best way to identify is to refer to the label of the thread. In cases where the label is missing or torn, it is advisable to conduct a flame test. Take a small length of the thread and burn it. If it’s a cotton thread it will burn leaving behind no odour and only ash. If its polyester thread, then it will burn brightly and leave a very foul odour. Also, instead of ash, you will get a sticky mouldy substance.
