Its not very difficult to clean a spark arrestor. First remove the spark arrestor from where it is fitted. Use a mug of soapy lukewarm water and allow the spark arrestor to stay submerged in it for an hour. Next take out the arrestor and clean it using a thick wired brush. Wipe the junk off the spark arrestor and put it submerged in some solvent like kerosene. After an hour take it out and again clean it using a wire brush. Use a blowtorch and burn off debris and carbon. Clean it with water pat dry and put it back inside the exhaust.
