Q. How much does satin fabric cost?
Answer
Light satin fabric (50-100 GSM) woven from filaments of nylon or polyester can cost as low as 50 rupees per metre. However, digitally printed satin fabrics of similar quality can cost more than double that amount. On the other hand, printed satin fabrics woven from filaments of real silk can cost upwards of 600 rupees per metre. Still higher up the spectrum, Kashmiri Balatan satin woven into sarees from high-quality silk will set you back at 1000 rupees per metre. On average, a piece of satin fabric should cost between 60 and 100 rupees a metre.
