LED rope lights have a far lower energy need compared to incandescent rope lights and produce much less heat as well. LED lights have a power consumption of around 1 watt per foot but a standard rope light per foot consumes close to 3 watts of light. In general the lifespan of LED rope lights is certified at a hundred thousand hours while the lifespan of equivalent incandescent rope lights is estimated at twenty-five thousand hours.
