In the first step of the process, plastic, colouring, and reflective materials including bismuth oxychloride, iron oxide, titanium dioxide, and aluminium are combined to form flat multi-layered sheets. After that, the sheets are sliced into smaller and smaller pieces of a variety of forms, including hexagons, rectangles, triangles, and squares. Glitter sold in stores may be anything from 0.002 inches (0.05 millimetres) to 0.25 inches (6.35 millimetres) on a side.
