First of all turn on the digital pulse oximeter. The you should clip it on the end of a finger with your nail facing up. You can see the results in a few seconds. This device gives two results: a blood oxygen level (SpO2) and pulse rate (PR). On the basis of oxygen level and pulse your doctor can decide the treatment. However if you have cold hands or you have worn nail polish the device may not show any results.
