The initial step in producing perfectly cooked rice in a mini rice cooker or quick pot is to wash the rice in cold water. This is absolutely necessary! It does this by removing most of the starch from rice, which is the substance that causes it to become sticky. Just put the rice inside a strainer, give it a quick rinse under the faucet for about a minute, and then put the rice, once it has been rinsed, into the saucepan. After rinsing the rice, all that's left to do is add some water and a little bit of salt, and you're good to go! Place the valve in the sealed position, select the rice or risotto setting, and cook on the low-pressure setting for six minutes; the dish will then be ready. After it has been cooked, the rice will stay warm in the cooker till the time one is ready to consume it.
