A pressure-equalizing falling funnel attached to a boiling flask and a reflux condenser on top can serve as a makeshift Soxhlet extractor. In order to get the solvent refluxing need to fill the boiling flask with it. Once the dropping funnel is filled the stopcock should be slightly ajar to allow the liquid in the funnel chamber to begin trickling back into the flask. Until the solvent has ceased boiling the heat must be turned off. When the solvent in the flask has been completely drawn off by the siphon take it out of the Soxhlet chamber the condenser and the Soxhlet chamber. Take the thimble out of the Soxhlet apparatus and toss it. Clean the wine glasses.
