Q. How do you breathe while wearing a BiPAP mask?
Answer
The BiPap mask is designed to force air into the lungs of patients who are having problems breathing. A mask or nasal plugs attached to a ventilator are worn by the patient. The mask is worn over the nose and/or mouth and two different air pressures are delivered. When the inhale, a certain amount of pressure is applied, and when the exhale, the pressure is reduced. Bi-level airway pressure (BiPAP) masks typically have a "intelligent" breath timer that adjusts to the breathing patterns. A BiPap machine can assist with breathing by forcing air into the lungs. To use the ventilator, need to wear either a mask or a set of nose plugs.
