Q. How are bolt locks made?
Answer
A steel wire is cold forged into the desired shape then subjected to heat treatment to increase its strength and surface treatment to increase its durability before being packaged and shipped. However the manufacturing process can increase in complexity for increasingly complex bolt designs. Swedish firm Bulten is an industry leader in bolt production providing fasteners for a wide variety of vehicle makes and models. "We do not make catalog parts — everything we produce is custom-designed based on the customer's specifications" explains Henrik Oscarson Technical Manager at Bulten's production factory in Hallstahammar Sweden.
