LED diyas, which have a surface brightness just one-thirtieth that of the sun, cause significantly more light pollution since so much of their light is reflected upward from the ground. As previously mentioned, stargazing is hampered by light pollution, especially blue light from LED diyas lighting. Serious problems arise when animals are exposed to large amounts of artificial light, as this interferes with their natural nocturnal behaviors and circadian rhythms. However, at present, LED diyas is the most environmentally friendly lighting technology that can aid in preventing the spread of light pollution.
