There are multiple reasons to not have dry cleaning machines at home. The dry cleaning machines clean using a liquid solvent rather than water, and they also need additional pricey and huge devices. Percloritherine, most often referred to as "perc," is the solvent that is used by the majority of "conventional" dry cleaners. The item in question is the one that is to blame for the peculiar odour that may be detected in one's clothing after having it cleaned at a dry cleaner. Despite the fact that this solvent is harmful and is subject to stringent regulations from the EPA, there have been no examples that can definitively prove it causes sickness. Dry cleaners that are concerned about the environment may also utilize different, less hazardous solvents.   One can only use a certain solvent in a machine that was specifically designed and configured to work with that specific solvent. These liquids serve the same purpose that water does in the washing machine. Detergents specifically formulated for use with the solvents are also used by the machines. However, unlike the water from the washing machine, the solvents do not get flushed down the drain and into the sewage system. Instead, it is recirculated and reused in subsequent loads after passing through the equipment that recycles it. The majority of dry cleaners will likely filter and clean the clothes two or three times every week. A good dry cleaner may purify and clean the solvent once a day, while a superb dry cleaner would filter and cleanse the solvent after each load is processed.
