Q. Are cornstarch and baking powder interchangeable?
Answer
Because baking powder contains cornstarch you may believe that it may be substituted for the ingredient it is intended to replace. However this does not seem to be the case. Baking powder only contains a little quantity of cornstarch compared to conventional cornstarch therefore it doesn't thicken food as much as it should.
