Angle Cock

An angle cock is also known as angle valve and is a small piece of plumbing fitting that has an inlet and an outlet port which are perpendicular to each other. It is sorted as the manual valve and it is usually used to prevent or control the flow of a liquid in a pipe. This is the reason why it is sometimes also known as stop valve. Sometimes the angle cock may bifurcate one inlet of water into two outlets generally used to give water supply to jet spray and flush valve in bathrooms.

The angle cock is also sometimes referred to as the stop valve. While stop valves are valves that entirely stop the flow of the liquid inside the pipe, angle cock are used to provide water to fittings outside the wall at a certain flow. Angle valves can also be termed as the regulating device in residential plumbing and industry where there is an oval knob or twist handle to regulate the flow of water being provided to a fitting, like the health faucet, geyser, cistern, etc. 

Angle cocks are now available in brass, plastic, PVC, iron, copper, etc. They may also have different finishes. Meanwhile, the best material for the valve inside the angle cock is ideally made of iron or copper for longevity and better service.

Angle cocks find application in a wide range of plumbing, from bathrooms, to kitchens to industries to farms. However the reasons for using them are mainly two:

1. In a household when you need to upgrade your bathroom or kitchen fixtures or have to repair instead of cutting the flow of water to your entire home, you can simply use the angle cock to shut off the water to just that single appliance or fixture which needs to be replaced or repaired.

2. Based on the fixture being used, you need to regulate how much amount of water or any liquid you want to be going to the fixture. This can easily be done by rotating the knob or twist the handle to the required position.

CP stands for Chrome Plated, a usual term used in plumbing to refer to fittings with chrome plated finish. Chrome plating is done in a number of metallic products to increase its durability, because products which are chrome plated do not get corroded easily. Normally, CP fittings are suitable for bathroom and kitchen plumbing fittings.
