TradeIndia MSME Connect | Chennai Edition: Building Stronger MSME Networks

Chennai, a dynamic city and capital of Tamil Nadu, is well known not only for its deep heritage, temples, and dynamic automobile industry, but also as a robust engine for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The fusion of tradition and modernity in the city encourages innovation and entrepreneurship in a way that is highly unique.

Chennai hosted the second edition of TradeIndia’s #MSMEConnect in the month of February’25, an event which embraced the city’s reputation for creativity and intellect in business. With a footfall of engaged MSME owners, entrepreneurs, industry leaders and innovators, the event was dynamic and pulsing with energy, and ideas which illustrated Chennai’s attitude of growth and enterprise.

MSMEs are the backbone of Chennai’s economy –representing greater than 40% of the industrial output and employing nearly 30 million inhabitants in the city.These enterprises are numerous and span a wide range of sectors (e.g. automobile components, textiles, leather goods, IT services) which are helping significantly to the local and national economy.

In line with TradeIndia’s purpose of fostering collaboration, partnership and shared-learning among MSMEs, the event’s agenda voicelessly resonated with Chennai’s ecosystem. Conversations focused primarily on overcoming challenges related to that are unique to the region, such as gaining affordable access to capital, and belonging to the tech revolution through appropriate technologies that fit into manufacturing and textiles or using digital platforms that enable wider access to the market space.
