- Consumption of Black cardamom is known to lower the glucose levels in blood because of its antioxidant properties. The antioxidants also help in managing cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart diseases. Powder of Badi Elaichi can be taken on a daily basis in low quantity.
- In ayurvedic tradition, black cardamom is used for providing relief from cough because it contains hot properties. It helps in expelling excess mucus deposited in the respiratory passage and offer relief to the patient. Sometimes consuming ashes of burnt black cardamom leaves together with mustard oil relieves from cough and cold symptoms.
- The essential oil made of black cardamom is good for treating body inflammation like swellings, rheumatism or tissue injuries.
- Black cardamom also helps in improving appetite when added to daily food. Loss of appetite happens because of weak digestion, which is in Ayurveda called Agnimandya. This condition is produced in the body by the increase of Pitta, Vata and Kapha doshas resulting in only partial digestion of food. Eating of Black cardamom stimulates the process of digestion and improves appetite. Therefore, black cardamom has appetizers in it.
- Another very significant benefit of black cardamom is that its consumption checks the symptoms of asthma and provides relief in conditions of breathlessness. Badi Elaichi fights those obstructions in the lungs and the respiratory passages and help in easy breathing to the patient.
