How does a weight sensor function?-
A weight sensor is known to be a device that is used for measuring parameters such as load and force. They function in such a way that the weight is converted into an electrical signal that can further be processed and used in many applications. The weight sensors utilize the internal strain for measuring the weight and force. In other words, the main function of a weight sensor is in transducing or converting parameters like tension, pressure, weight, force, torque, compression, and so on into electrical signals that can be useful for many applications.
What are the various kinds of weight sensors?+

There are many types of weight sensors and when one based them on the conversion method, these weight sensors are classified accordingly into eight types which can be used for various measurements, and these are highlighted under:


  1. Magnetic pole variation type

  2. Photoelectric type

  3. Vibration type

  4. Hydraulic type

  5. Capacitive type

  6. Electromagnetic force type

  7. Resistance strain type.

  8. Gyro type

What materials are weight sensors made of?+
Almost all the sensors are made of one type of material i.e., steel and steel is one of the most durable materials. Sensors are generally fitted with a strain gauge (1 or more). The time when the sensors transmit low electrical current is during the time when there is a force applied to the strain gauge. The sensors or the weighing sensors can either be based on tension or pressure or even both. These sensors which are mostly made in an S shape are also known or named as S-type weight sensors. As mentioned earlier, these are made of steel or steel alloy, however, are protected using rubber.
How does one connect a weight sensor?+

How does one connect a weight sensor?


The connection of the weight sensor depends on the HX711 that one purchases and the connections may differ based on it. If the HX711 has a color code then one can easily connect the wires from the weight sensor to the HX711 respectively. Let us take an example of some standard color codes where the connecting wires can connect the weight sensor to the HX711. 


The connections can be as follows:


A+ and A-: The A+ is there to be connected to white whereas A- is generally for green connection.

E+ and E-:  This is often connected to the red color of the weight sensor whereas the E-is connected to the black of the weight sensor.

B+ and B-: In both of these, there are no connections.
