What is the Silica Gel?

Amorphous and porous, silica gel is a kind of silicon dioxide (silica) made up of an irregular three-dimensional structure of alternating silicon and oxygen atoms, with gaps and pores on the nanometer scale. The cavities could be filled with gas, vacuum, or liquids like water. A more accurate name for this substance is "silica xerogel" in the third scenario.
