Wireless Controller 

Connecting wireless devices to a WLAN, or wireless local area network, is made possible by a device called a wireless LAN controller. Every wireless access point (AP) on the network communicates with a central device called a wireless LAN controller, which is often housed in the data center. The router's output bandwidth is stretched by the wireless access controller so that it can be used by the rest of the network. The wireless controller acts like an amplifier in a stereo system, extending the range at which devices may communicate. Simply put, each AP must function independently, making centralized management a challenge.

Still, the vast majority of people will be oblivious. Wires can be an inconvenience, but they may be worth it to gamers who seek the best performance possible. In discussions about the relative merits of wired versus wireless controllers, one common concern is whether or not the latter suffer from noticeable lag. Really, if a user has a good controller, the lag is not too bad. There will still be a delay, though. In a single-player game, the delay is unlikely to be noticed by the player. In some cases, the controller may not be to blame for the delay. In truth, it is not always the controller that's causing lag, but rather the player's reaction time.
