What is so special about Rajasthani juttis?

What is Rajasthani juttis?

Mojari and Rajasthani juttis have similar meanings. North India, particularly the Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana regions, became known for its traditional Indian footwear. Rajasthani juttis are therefore created of vivid, bright hues and are quite pleasant to wear from an ergonomic standpoint. Jutti production formerly required the application of leather and considerable needlework. Depending on the style, juttis can be worn frequently or only on special occasions. The jutti is a traditional and modern representation of Indian origin. An Urdu term Jutti (also spelt Jhutti, Juthi, or Juti), describes a shoe with a sealed upper and just a sole. But aren't you curious regarding how these juttis are made? This is its past. Indian traditional footwear known as jutti has been around since 200 BC. Their ancestry may be found in the Mughal Empire. From being a regular shoe company, Jutti's has transformed into a custom-made, ethical must-have. They are conical or M-shaped and cover the front portion of the foot. The Buddhist period saw a surge in the use of strapped sandals. Later, these ethical shoes were more well-liked in north India, notably in Punjab and Rajasthan.

Rajasthan is among the most well-known tourist destinations because of its vibrant hues and fascinating culture. Without purchasing a pair of such moral footwear known as juttis and just a Leheriya outfit, no tourist may leave Rajasthan. The days of wearing juttis with ethical attire that matched the bride's dress colour at weddings are long gone. Today, juttis are worn with short skirts and a pair of jeans. For events like mehndi and sangeet, males wear the traditional Rajasthani jutti rather than the sherwani, an Indian coat-like garment.

How are Rajasthani Juttis Made?

1. Vegetable tanning is the first step in the processing of rawhide. For this, tanin originates from the Kikkar tree and is still used.

2. Several pieces of treated leather are cut and utilised to make the footwear.

3. Leather or fabric is used for the shoe top, sewn and decorated with brass nails. Other festoons include shells, glass, bells, and porcelain beads.

4. The footwear is fitted together, and a craftsman finishes it. The largest jutti market in India is in Rajasthan. Whenever it comes to diversity, there is never a dull time.

The ladies of the "Mochi" tribe were in command of the delicate labour of stitching, embellishment, and fitting the parts together, while the "Rangaar" tribe was in control of curing and dyeing the hides. The Chamar community were responsible for processing the rawhides.

Features of Rajasthani Jutti

  • Flexible and entirely handmade.
  • There is no difference between left and right.
  • These Juttis mould to the foot with continued use.
  • Men's and women's designs are similar and often feature a flat sole.
  • Juttis weigh little more than a pair of beach flip-flops.

How to look Fabulous in Traditional Rajasthani Juttis?

Indian traditional clothing

Juttis go well with traditional attire, including saris, suits, and lehengas. Wear these comfortable shoes at a wedding or other festive event instead of your uncomfortable stilettos. To add even more sparkle to your outfit, designers also provide custom juttis that coordinate with the stitching or colour of your clothing.

Western clothing

Tan-coloured jutti looks great with any summer dress, pants, and a kurta to provide a traditional twist to your western attire.

Current Fashion

Today's market is inundated with fashionable, distinctive, and quirky patterned Juttis that are perfect for your daily casual attire.

Global scope

Numerous countries, such as the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Europe, are fans of juttis. Several western manufacturers have adopted juttis as their line of fashionable footwear because they are drawn to the style and particular subgenre. Jutti is produced in an unusual and captivating manner.

Juttis Galore

Printed Jutti

The most simple and appealing juttis are printed ones that go well with traditional attire and jeans. To match their lehengas and salwar kameez, brides can select from various prints, including floral patterns, multicoloured prints, black and white casually patterned handmade jutti, and more.

Tassels or pom-poms

The Pom Pom Threaded Mojari Jaipuri Juttis with Rabari thread work are exquisite and used on significant occasions. If you're in a happy mood or perhaps a wedding is coming up, match the particular combination of Jutti to showcase with style.

Juttis with mirror styling

Mirrors are glassworks which go back to the 17th century and are also referred to as shisha in Hindi. This machine-cut crystal shisha is offered in hexagon, triangular, square, and circle forms and has silvered backing. The juttis are stylish and blend well with all morally correct attire. Although the needlework uses Dabka work & colourful threads, the mirrored work is made of silver.
