Lassi Machine

A lassi machine is an electric motor-driven machine that is connected to a churner. The purpose of this machine is to make smooth frothy lassi. To the uninitiated, lassi is a popular Indian drink that is made out of fresh curd/yogurt. The basic ingredients needs to make lassi are fresh yogurt, sugar, ice, and water (depending on the consistency and thickness of the desired lassi.) A Lassi machine, essentially blends this mixture together at a speed of about 375 to 750 revolutions per minute, to make this delicious drink. The price of the lassi machine depends on a number of factors such as capacity, motor, brand, etc. As a thumb rule, one can expect the cost of the machine to be 1200 rupees per liter of lassi-making capacity. So if you want to buy a 3-liter lassi machine, then be prepared to shell out at least 3600 rupees for the basic model.

It depends on what defines automatically. If you mean to say that automatic involves machine feeding of ingredients like curd, sugar, and ice, then no, lower-end machines are not automatic. A lassi machine consists of a vat with a tap at the bottom. There is a churner in the center of the vat, which is connected to the rotor shaft of an induction machine. Ingredients of sugar, yogurt, ice, and water need to be poured into the vat, and when the machine is turned on, the churner blends the entire mixture into a delicious creamy frothy beverage. 

Most of the lassi, made in the homes, are not made using any machine, but use a simple churner that is hand operated. The trick is to ensure that while the churning happens, the speed must not be very high. If the speed of the churning is high, then the water and cream from the yogurt will separate and the entire mixture will be watery. Thus, the speed of these machines is kept between 200 to 500 RPM.  A lassi machine for home usage will cost you around 3500 rupees, of a good brand.
