Cymbopogan, a family of tall grasses comprises the lemongrass, the cymbopogan citrates. It is a slender perennial that grows in dry soil. It is native to phillipines and is widely used in Asian cuisines. Lemongrass oil is extracted from fresh or partially dried leaves of the grass.
