In dry climates, cotton loses its moisture rapidly, becoming harsh and brittle. The incorporation of humectant and moisture retaining agent into the cotton improves the carding efficiency, and gives cotton yarn of high strength characteristics and greater evenness.Usually, mineral oil-based products are used for the above application, mainly due to their apparent low cost. However, such mineral oil-based products impart hydrophobic characteristics to the yarn, and are also difficult to remove during subsequent processing operations. The absorbency of the yarn is also reduced, giving some difficulty in sizing operations.T.R.Oil is entirely free from such mineral oils, and is in the form of a clear, viscous, yellowish-brown, water soluble liquid. T.R.Oil has been especially developed, so that it possesses excellent wetting properties (this improves the size pick-up of the cotton yarn) and also imparts excellent moisture retaining properties to the treated cotton, rendering the subsequent carding and spinning processes very easy.METHOD OF USEThe exact concentration of T.R.Oil to be used will depend upon various local factors such as the humidity and temperature, the type of cotton yarn being processed, etc. and will have to be used experimentally for most applications. However, as a rough guide, the use of between 0.1% and 0.2% of AD - SPRAY on the weight of cotton will be found sufficient for most applications.T.R.Oil should be applied in the form of an aqueous solution of any suitable concentration (say, between 10% and 20% strength). The quantity of T.R.Oil required for treatment of a certain weight of cotton should then be dissolved in water and this aqueous solution should be spreayed evenly over the cotton. If mechanical spray-in arrangements are not available, then ordinary hand spray may also be used. After spraying, the cotton should preferably be stacked for about 6 to 8 hours, but due to the special penetrating properties of T.R.Oil this stacking time may also bereduced to say, one hour. In general we advise the following recipe to be used for spraying cotton:T.R.Oil : 2 kg WATER: 10 kgMix properly and sprinkle on one ton of cotton. It will work out approximately 0.2% on the weight of cotton.
