This colored  marble statue is a one of a kind sculpture, hand carved by the artists of south India. Special Features: Shiva and Parvati are completely absorbed in
one another, leaping through the heavens together. The crescent moon
surrounds them and gives the couple the appearance of Shiva and Parvati
Traversing the Night Sky. There is a large three headed serpent that
acts as the spine of the piece. The artist has also placed a large yali
on the front of the base. A yali is a mythical animal with body of a
lion, tail of a peacock and the trunk of an elephant. The tail flows
beneath the couple as the trunk of the yali is raised to support the
body of Shiva's cobra that also decorates the base.About Gorora Stone: Gorora stone or Red marble is a wonderful
stone for sculpture because of its wide color range. It is rarer than
most soft stones and must be shipped into Tamil Nadu from Uttar Pradesh
in the north. The stone has wonderful cream/yellow/green veins in it
contrasting to the beautiful deep red to sometimes pink natural
coloration of the stone. The stone is extremely glossy. When a red
marble statue is polished it has a disarming shimmer. Care: The piece can be used both indoors and outdoors. Dust the
piece regularly. If you would like the piece to shine use a cotton
cloth with some coconut oil or other natural oil to wipe down the
statue.
