What is a road roller?

Vibratory rollers are available in single and double drum configurations and are suited to most types of soils.

Finally, grid rollers have steel drums with a grid of heavy steel bars and are mainly used to compact coarse and/or rocky soils, usually in sub-base layers. The open grid design and configuration allow cracking of larger aggregates, producing better compaction results.
