Additionally, it induces the synthesis of prostaglandin Ea , interstitial collagenase, and gelatinase B in monocyte cell cultures. Fragments of laminin containing the SIKVAV sequence may contribute to the inflammatory response at wound healing sites and might also play a role in the excessive induction of metalloproteinases in chronic inflammatory lesions.
