Vanaspati ghee is used for baking, deep-fry, to saute food or as a spread. It is used in preparation of bakery products like sweets, cakes, ice-cream, puffs, etc. It is used for frying when making jalebis, gulab jamun etc.

Vanaspati ghee is produced by dehydrogenation of palm oil (vegetable cooking oil) using “supported nickel catalysts” as catalyst. It is rich in trans-fat.
In order to increase its shelf life, Vanaspati ghee is packaged in food-grade plastic packets like HDPE, LDPE or PP, or in airtight glass containers or plastic jars.
