What are the advantages of plastic carpets?

Since plastic is a synthetic material, therefore, the first obvious benefit is that plastic carpets tend to be cheaper than woolen or other carpets. Plastic carpets can be used roughly and do not require a lot of maintenance and care. Along with its low cost, other benefits include a large variety of designs, customization as well as longevity. Plastic carpets, on the flip side, are not environmentally friendly because they are made out of plastic. 

Is plastic carpet expensive?

Compared to carpets made of using natural materials like wool, cotton, jute, and other natural fibers, plastic, being a synthetic material, ensure that these carpets are not as expensive as regular carpets. Plastic fibers are generally extracted or produced from recycled plastic and thus, are a means of cutting down the cost. A good plastic carpet, that one can use for lounge application or living room, can cost you anywhere above 3000 and more, depending on the surface area.

Is plastic carpet safe?

Plastic carpet, as the name suggests, is a carpet made out of synthetic material like plastic. Compared to natural materials used for making carpets, such as wool, cotton, jute, etc, plastic tends to be cheaper and can be used to create various designs on the carpets. Generally speaking, these plastic carpets are manufactured by recycling used plastic. Old plastic bottles such as cold drinks, mineral bottles, or any other form of recyclable plastic are used to create these fibers for weaving the plastic carpet. Whether plastic fibers are safe or not, is a matter of perspective. One is never sure about the quality of these recyclable plastics. For a safe plastic carpet, always insist on buying from those manufacturers that have been certified for the correct recycling of the plastic product. 

How much is a meter of a plastic carpet?

Plastic carpet is not sold per length but is charged based on area. So, there can be no answer to the price of plastic carpets according to length unless there exists an international standard. In terms of area, plastic carpets can be sold based on either square feet or square meters. Normally in India, it is sold according to per square meter. A PVC plastic carpet will set you back by about 50 rupees per square meter. However, those plastic carpets sold for rugs or lounge applications are priced item-wise and can cost you anywhere above 2000 rupees onwards.
