Grape seed oil is extracted from the seeds of grapes, which are used in wine making. Since grape seeds were earlier discarded during the wine making process, hence, grape seed oil was also termed as an abundant by product of the wine making process. This oil is widely favored by people for culinary and cosmetic purposes owing to features such as a very high smoking point which enables the oil to be used for frying, suitability for dressing of foods and making sauces because it emulsifies very well, good moisturizing properties allowing for it's use in moisturizers, creams etc.
Early in the twentieth century, during the wine making process, grape seeds were discarded as left overs terming it unusable. Gradually, people started processing and extracting oil from these seeds. Some years later, extraction of grape seed oil became a profitable sideline business and also solved the wide spread problem of disposal of left over grape seeds for which the business was widely hailed.
