The brake lining is attached to the brake pad (the backing surface) using hot adhesives or rivets, and the whole assembly is mounted to connect to the brake disc (rotor) when the brake is applied.
A brake lining is the friction causing material that comes in direct contact with the brake disc to reduce the speed of a moving car. It is the only part of a car’s brake system that comes in direct contact with the metal brake disc to cause friction and lower the speed of any automotive.
